What to write about when you are uninspired?

I feel pressure to keep providing whoever is interested in this blog with inspirational insights and stories about the CIM. Not only provide inspirational content, but to produce on demand and on time.

And today is hot and I can barely move my body let alone ignite my brain and then of course I go to my ego’s favourite ways of helping me by telling myself “here is more evidence of not being good enough”. Try harder!!!

So, I did some reading about feeling uninspired and pressured to produce. I wanted to know why I felt pressure, what is it in me and my ego that tells me I have to produce, perform, prove my worth.

Research into the neurophysiology of the brain tells us that we feel pressure and push ourselves because we are wired to seek approval. We are trained to seek praise, attention, and admiration and when we receive it, we feel good about ourselves and when we don’t, we feel bad. In CIM terms, when we try to pursue our worth, we have forgotten who we are and who grants our worth in the first place. But the ego speaks loud sometimes.

Questions to self:

1. Am I writing blog articles in order to gain approval? H’mm.

Sometimes yes like today and sometimes no – when I just want to share thoughts and insights because I want to give. I like me better when its coming from the second.

Our current culture, especially social media, amplifies moments that stand out. Algorithms favour dramatic, or aspirational content. People who post inspiring high points get more visibility and validation. That skews our sense of what “normal” participation looks like.

2. Do I believe we have to provide dramatic or inspirational content all the time?

Yes, and this touches again on mistaken identity and the false belief that I must prove my value to the world in order to survive and to be loved. Because I have internalized the idea that my value depends on achievement, performance, or the reaction I receive from others. I have made Inspiration a form of currency to trade for self-esteem.

3. What is the end result of pushing myself to produce or achieve something even when my motivation is low?

Emotional exhaustion, self doubt and loss of authenticity.

- Missed relational depth. Real connection often comes through shared vulnerability, mistakes, and ordinary life — not only peak moments.

4.What will I do instead of pushing myself this week?

Remove the ego’s bidding that tells me; “I must write something inspiring” with “Sometimes I can inspire and sometimes I can’t; I can always be real however and that’s more important”.

I will repeat continuously Byron Katie’s favourite prayer “Lord save me from the need for love, appreciation or approval” and I will remember this line from the Course:
“The truth in you (me) remains as radiant as a star, as pure as light, as innocent as love itself.ACIM T-31.VI.V10
